Combat Robotics II: Uppercut
Project type
Mechanical systems, electronics, CAD, 3D printing
The successor to Purple Pain, this ant-weight class combat robot adopts a large vertical spinner as opposed to the horizontal spinner design of Purple Pain. Excavator is lower to the ground and features a heavier, more advanced mass-balanced weapon that boasts a single point of contact as opposed to two. Additionally, Excavator supports two driven (rear) wheels and two dead (front) wheels. Much smaller wheels, slightly lower rpm, and with the elimination of drag friction from front contact with the ground, Uppercut's drivetrain will be superior and more dependable on rougher terrain.
Aluminum sheets are cut and secured as shielding on most areas of potential contact, and a large sheet is positioned on the front slope of the bot as well to act as a plow. The other two bits of aluminum shielding serve as protection for the wheels. Excavator also features two aluminum forks in the front to help trap opponents and direct them towards the weapon. All of these features are secured to a shock-absorbant TPU skeleton body. The top panel will be a custom-cut CF sheet to help redirect weight towards shielding in other areas. In short, it is stronger, more dangerous, and features a more dependable weapon system!
