1st Week Product Design Sprint

Design sprint

Given just one week as part of Duke's Product Design course to build a working device to provide a useful function. This year's main project theme is "Smart Tools for The Home and Hobby". I designed a multi-purpose kitchen tool with a replaceable head to adapt for various tasks around the house. My design features four speed settings (low, medium, high, TURBO) that allow it to be used across several problem areas: cleaning dishes/cooking-ware, scrubbing surfaces, mixing food, immersion blending, dusting, etc. These use cases are also defined by the attachment that is chosen. The prototype is entirely 3D printed out of PLA, and controls the 1000 kV brushless motor with an Arduino Uno and off-the-shelf ESC (2S power, onboard BEC brings 5V to Arduino). The A2212 BLDC motor is geared down 16:1 with a custom gearbox of my own design.
